BIFA Shortlists OIA for Two Awards

OIA made the final four in the Project Logistics category at the British International Freight Association's latest Freight Service Awards.

23 November 2016

We are thrilled to announce the British International Freight Association (BIFA) has recognized OIA Global as a finalist for two awards at the 28th annual Freight service Awards. BIFA is the trade association United Kingdom companies engaged in international freight. With over 1,500 BIFA members, it is an honor to be shortlisted not only for one award but two!

While our services could have qualified OIA across all ten categories, we chose to focus on our greatest strength, our people. Under the Specialist categories, we were included in the Extra Mile Award for our efforts in moving nine, 9.4m tall reels along public roads throughout the busy metropolitan area of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. This operation could only be performed at night and required precise planning and coordination with multiple agencies due to the size and weight of the reels.

The project team’s experience and their on-site presence throughout the entire project ensured that a few unexpected “bumps in the road” were overcome without drama, and the project was brought to a successful conclusion.

OIA Global also made the final four in the Project Logistics category. Our Energy Team coordinated processes, documentation, and pre-load meetings in order to move six Subsea Distribution Units (215 tonnes each) from Belgium to Indonesia. The requirements of the manufacturer, customer, and each country’s customs department had to be considered, as well as the details for final delivery. Our planning ensured smooth sailing throughout the entire project.

We are very proud of our colleagues and global support staff for making this possible. We take great pride in knowing our employees have the knowledge, experience, and drive to put the customer first, and it shows!
