Operations Supervisor - San Francisco, CA

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, profitability and adherence to all laws and regulations for all transactions within the branch. You will provide overall direction, training, and performance feedback to employees. Additionally, you will assist the branch manager on establishing and achieving financial objectives, staffing requirements and productivity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and train the staff in areas of administration regulations and procedures to provide excellent customer service
  • Establish service pricing with local sales team, utilizing your thorough understanding of tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise from foreign destinations
  • Identify areas of concern in the clients' freight forwarding processes by monitoring team performance against company and client standards, regularly auditing shipment documentation, and periodically providing client reviews
  • Ensure team is in full compliance with Governmental regulatory bodies (FMC, IATA, TSA, etc.)
  • Negotiate with airline partners and ocean carriers with respect to rate and space allocation issues
  • Audit documents/processes including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported commodities
  • Audit files closings to ensure timely invoicing and maximum profitability
  • Review, approve, and assist with the development of written procedures for handling each account, including schedule of service fees, shipment processing, and any other related information
  • On-board new clients to create seamless transitions, maximizing client retention

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in export operations with 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high-touch and proactive customer service approach
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to function autonomously and use good judgment in a diverse, global environment
