Fort McHenry Limited Access Channel in Baltimore is now open for commercial vessels up to 48 feet, operating daily from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The channel maintains a depth of 48 feet, with 350-foot horizontal and 214-foot vertical clearances due to nearby BG&E powerlines.

As salvage operations progress, there may be opportunities for increased depth and width, subject to survey analyses. However, vessel transits are at the discretion of the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP), considering weather conditions and ongoing salvage efforts.

Fort Carroll Temporary Access Channel, as well as Sollers Point and Hawkins Point Temporary Alternate Channels, are also available for commercial vessel traffic with specific specifications.

• If containers have already been delivered to the Port of Baltimore, we can reroute them to Norfolk or New York.
• If containers have not yet been delivered to Baltimore, we can redirect them to Norfolk or New York.
• If containers are currently en route to Baltimore aboard vessels, we can opt to have them discharged in Norfolk or New York if those options are available.
• If containers have not yet been loaded at the port of origin, we can rebook them to Norfolk or New York.

Vessel traffic into and out of the Port of Baltimore is suspended until further notice. During this time, we will guide our customers through the disruption with care and exceptional support.
