OIA Global Logistics History/Timeline

Key Milestones

2004 - Leveraging over 15 years experience in international logistics, OIA launched an international procurement program focused on Pan-Asian manufacturing.
2003 - OIA Global Logistics and OIA-SCM certified MBE by NMBC (NW affiliate of the NMSDC).

C-TPAT certification granted, Brussels office opened, OIA Global Logistics – SCM, Inc. established to handle supply chain management within the evolving Third Party Logistics (3PL) marketplace.

Implemented a web-based international supply chain visibility platform allowing OIA’s customers to view their manufacturers’, and their manufacturers’ suppliers’, operations to reduce costs through greater efficiency and coordinated planning.
2002 - Became an integrated logistics company and established a global raw material supply chain linking remote suppliers and factories across multiple countries.
2001 - Chicago, Hong Kong and Singapore offices opened.
2000 - ISO certification granted.
1999 - New name “OIA Global Logistics” and logo introduced July 1.
1997 - Brokerage operation expands to branch offices.
1996 - Established a fully automated Portland-based global RF (radio frequency) distribution warehouse in 1996 to deliver “perishable” raw materials to remote international manufacturing. Operating real-time at 99.9985% delivery accuracy.

Opens fully automated distribution center, launches Cargo Risk Management program, New York office opens.
1994 - NVOCC license granted.
1993 - FMC license granted to handle Ocean Forwarding.
1992 - First licensed Customs Broker and Oregon International Airfreight is granted Customs House Brokerage License.
1991 - San Francisco and Miami offices open to ship perishables overseas.
1990 - Agreement with large northwest sportswear manufacturer to airship component parts to factories around the world.
1989 - Los Angeles office opens with an agreement with Korean Airlines to ship beef overseas.
1988 - Oregon International Airfreight incorporated by Steve Akre and Junki Yoshida in Portland, OR. The company is established to deal with perishable items destined to be shipped to Asia. Seattle office opened to ship cherries overseas. Successfully air-shipped perishable foods internationally since founding and viewed as an expert in expedited international air-freight.
